The Twitter news is coming in fast and furiously – here’s our round up of the past few hours:

  • Shamus echos my own sentiments on those twitter spammers – just exactly HOW do they get so many followers? I know some people will have accounts set to auto follow, but even so….
  • Tweet2Win is a service that basically seems to want you to promote it for the chance to win prizes. On first glance it looks predominantly American, and I’m not sure I understand the point of it, but as loads of you have sent me the link I thought I should check it out!

Twitter roundup 14th July 2008

Happy Bastille Day to all our French readers and followers – the sun is shining in france today so hopefully you are all out enjoying the weather!

For the rest of us, here’s a round up of the Twitter news in my inbox this morning!

  • ReadWriteWeb have a nice little round up of ten top twitter apps for you to play with. There’s a funky Flash mapping interface, called Twitter Atlas, that I haven’t seen before and must play with later. Also find out how to integrate Twitter with Second Life, how to post directly to your 30 Boxes calendar account, how to share what you’re listening to on Last.fm and more.

Hit the (Tweet) Decks!

tweetdeck logoThey say: TweetDeck is an Adobe Air desktop application that is currently in private beta. It aims to evolve the existing functionality of Twitter by taking an abundance of information i.e twitter feeds, and breaking it down into more manageable bite sized pieces.

This is a really great bit of kit – you can search through your own contacts Tweets or everyone’s Tweets, allows you to queue Tweets until later, create threads from replies (Plurk should start to be worried as this is one of the main advantages they had over Twitter) and more!

Made a Twit-up?

Whether it’s tiredness, a slip of the fingers or ‘emotional’ reasons, there are times when some people send a Tweet and immediately regret it.

According to a post on Lifehacker.com today – you can get rid of those ‘recalcitrant’ Tweets – yay!

First, find the nine-digit status number of the message in question by going to twitter.com/yourusername and looking at the time stamp (‘x minutes ago’) of the offending post. The end of its URL will be a nine-digit number identifying your post. Then enter this location into your browser, replacing 123456789 with the status number:
