Twitter roundup 14th July 2008
Happy Bastille Day to all our French readers and followers - the sun is shining in france today so hopefully you are all out enjoying the weather!
For the rest of us, here’s a round up of the Twitter news in my inbox this morning!
- ReadWriteWeb have a nice little round up of ten top twitter apps for you to play with. There’s a funky Flash mapping interface, called Twitter Atlas, that I haven’t seen before and must play with later. Also find out how to integrate Twitter with Second Life, how to post directly to your 30 Boxes calendar account, how to share what you’re listening to on Last.fm and more.
- In Finally! Relevant Applications for YouTube and Twitter in the Enterprise, there are some interesting observations on how Twitter and YouTube can be used to enhance the manufacturing process. As Jim MacLellan says “Well, eMails, blogs, and wikis are really just fancied-up documentation tools, and nobody likes to create documentation. But Twitter can be terse, instant, and informal - not too intimidating for the itinerant author. Heck, sending tweets about ideas and observations on the job would be very much like sending text messages from your cell phone, an increasingly common, popular, and non-threatening task. The bonus, however, is that Twitter traffic can be broadcast (unlike your typical point-to-point text) and saved to a database for further review and insight.”
- On Social Marketing and Social Change link to some stories regarding the US Congress. Apparently they are up in arms as their ‘right to Tweet’ may be removed - more on this at Tech Daily Dose.
- The fabulous LifeHack give us “5 Ways to use Twitter for Good” - I particularly like the phrase ‘micro-attention-sharing- meaning “direct folks to blog posts we’ve written, news we find needs sharing, or entertaining things we’ve found on the web”
More updates from me later - in the meantime if you have any Twitter news, or you#ve written a Twitter app or article, let me know!
