Voice calls over Twitter, more than 140 characters, and more in Twitter News!

It’s been a few days since an update – sorry for that, but Leigh, our uber efficient admin genius, decided to have a holiday – how dare she?!? ;)

Anyway, here’s a short round up of Twitter news for you Twitter starved peeps :) More later when we’ve been through our overflowing Twitter news inbox!

First up is Phweet:

Briefly put, Phweet allows you to call your Twitter friends through your browser – we haven’t tried this one out, so if anyone has or does, please do let us know how you get on!

They say:

Phweet lets you accept calls with one click from your Twitter page or Twitter clients.  Phweet is a simple service where you don’t need to download or share anything more to talk. The call is contained within a PhweetUrl;  a smart link that calls you.  And you can share who you are talking to in real time without having to reveal or exchange phone numbers or other identities.

They say they’re still testing, so if you want to be part of their tests, visit Phweet and follow @phweet on Twitter.

We’ve had a few messages about Palringo, which tells us it is:

…the first Rich Messaging Service – bringing together for the first time the ability to easily exchange text, voice and picture messages with friends, family and colleagues across all popular instant messaging services, whether sitting at a computer or on the move using a mobile phone or PDA.

They support Twitter, MSN, ICQ, AIM, Yahoo messenger, Google talk, Jabber and Gadu gadu – so a good range of IM clients.

Fed up with the 140 character limit at Twitter? Want to say more? Well now you can! A new add-on for Firefox – Twitzer -  allows you to post more than 140 characters at a time.

They say:

If you want to post more than the 140 character limit at Twitter, install this extension. Now type away as much as you want and before posting just click on “Twitzer text”. The extension will automatically save the full text at shortText.com, create a URL and replace the typed text with the summary and URL.

People who follow you can get the full text of the created links on Twitter site itself by clicking on ‘De-Twitzer text’.

That’s it for now but there will be more later – and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter!
