Pretty rabbit porn, the true meaning of Twitter and don’t forget your Twitterdex!

A quick round up of morning Twitter news :)

Matthom got so fed up waiting for Twitter to create an archive facility that he created his own – you can read more about it on his blog. He says:

Rather than updating Twitter directly, I will update via a custom app which copies each update into a local database, as well as updating on Twitter. To my followers, nothing changes. My updates still come across in real-time as they are sent.

He still hasn’t figured out how to get his old Tweets back, but we have no doubt he’s working on it!

Profy tells us about a new sort of malicious Twitter account – ‘pretty rabbit’:

Beware of an almost empty profile in Portuguese (screenshot below courtesy of Kaspersky Lab blog) advertising porn videos (as far as I can read Portuguese – which is not much) in its two updates. The profile only has the name that is reportedly translated into English as “pretty rabbit”…

…But if you do choose to click the link, a file will start to download masking itself as a download for the latest Adobe Flash version that you presumably need to watch the video. This is exactly how you get a Trojan downloader on your computer which in turn will download 10 bankers. So instead of watching the porn video the user expected, he is ready to provide his online banking information to the violators.

You can read more on the Profy blog.

There’s an interesting article on Fortune talking about the ‘true meaning of Twitter’. It states:

“Only in the tech business are companies born with neither a clear reason for being nor a clue as to how they’ll produce profits.”

Which made us laugh as it’s oh so true :)

And finally for this morning, to Twitterdex, which says it is:
