Using Twitter For Business - Jason Hulott Of Speedie Consultants Limited
Jason Hulott of Speedie Consultants Limited answered a few questions about his use of Twitter for business. Thanks Jason for taking time out of your busy schedule!
How long have you been on Twitter?
About 4 weeks
How many people follow you?
Currently 40
How many people do you follow?
32
What made you sign up to Twitter?
To be honest , it was the “me too” syndrome. Lots of people in my space of online marketing were banging on about it so I thought it was a good way to find out what my peers were up to. It also looked fairly painless and easy to do.
How often do you ‘Tweet’?
I try and tweet daily. I have my wordpress blogs set up to tweet automagically, so if I post a new blog post to any one of my blogs, it tweets. I also try to tweet and use twitter to communicate with people who normally wouldn’t reply to my emails because they have big old gatekeepers or you get lost in their hundreds of emails. I have helped out big names in my industry and twitter provides a back door to some of these guys.
How has Twitter been beneficial to your business?
At this stage it is a bit early but I do think it will help get my name out there a bit more. I have had conversations with some of the bigger players in my space, so it is almost like waving a flag saying look at me, look at me. After 4 weeks, I am confident it will be a worthwhile activity going forward. I am finding lots of useful resources and articles. It is giving me blogging topics, resources to share with clients and generally making my life easier. It you are not twittering get to it! I still have lots to learn, like adding my twitter links on my sigfiles and things. I just added it mine today!
If you had to recommend one person that business people should follow on Twitter, who would it be and why?
I can’t think of any one person to be honest but it is early. I use www.twellow.com to find people to follow and try to add people every week.
