Mark Lee of Tax advice network answered a few questions about his use of Twitter for business. Thanks Mark for taking time out of your busy schedule!
How long have you been on Twitter?
A couple of months.
How many people do you follow?
Not sure. About 30 I think but few of them twitter very often
How many people follow you?
53 (been increasing by 3 or 4 a week)
What made you sign up to Twitter?
I had no interest in it at all until i found out about Tweet Later and that i could use this facility to update my facebook and ecademy status. Now i can do all that in advance each day. Indeed I often set a full week’s Tweets on sunday evening.
How often do you ‘Tweet’?
I generally set 4-8 tweets a day (using tweet later) and occasionally add another one from my iPhone during the day if I’m out and about.
How has Twitter been benificial to your business?
Not at all so far as I can tell but I’m ever hopeful that one or more of my “followers” will become more familiar with what I and my business can do to help thier contacts (or even themselves)
If you had to recommend one person that business people should follow on Twitter, who would it be and why?
No idea. Nikki Pilkington, Dennis Howlett and David Petherick all seem to have interesting tweets but far too many to follow all their links from my iPhone.

Quick update at the start of 2009:
I’m now following >100 people (many of whom don’t seem to tweet very often). I have >200 followers and have reduced my daily tweets to nearer 3-5.
I still don’t think I can point to many obvious or direct business benefits BUT I have had inspiration for posts on my blogs (TaxBuzz, Ambitious Accountants and Accountant Jokes and Fun). And I’d hope that my ‘brand’ and reputation are reaching further. And when the time is right…..
