In the last few days I’ve spoken to quite a few journalists about the fact that it IS possible to get business and leads from twitter.
I’ve argued with a couple of people who think that the only people who are making money from it are people offering Twitter training courses or Twitter consultancy.
And do you know what? It gets really frustrating. NOT because I’m trying to promote a Twitter training course. Not because I’m trying to sell them anything in fact (the course is no good if you’ve not already had some experience with twitter). But because I KNOW it works if done properly. And I’m pretty damned sure it will work for everyone.
I’ve seen people get speaking gigs, book deals, consultancy business, vacation rentals, real estate deals, web design gigs, music gigs as well, and much more.
I even know of a courier company using Twitter and gaining business!
So forgive me if I’m a little fed up with people telling me ‘It’s a waste of time’, ‘It’s just people saying what they had for dinner’ or the classic ‘It’s spam isn’t it?’
IT’S NONE OF THOSE THINGS!
Of course, this is just my opinion, so I’ve set up a poll on TwtPoll in order to find out what you guys out there have to say.

This year alone I have gained 4 new clients through twitter. I also have to turn down quite a lot of work too. More couriers are joining twitter slowly, so I am now in a position to pass the work I will not do on to them, or subcontract it out.
Last night I tweeted about an empty transit going to Spain, this morning I have an inbox full of enquiries – shhhh! don’t be telling that to the courier world or they will all be on here
Twitter works great for our events that we organise for Business Scene in Essex too.
