It’s Friday once more, and that means it’s #followfriday – you might want to read the last couple of #followfriday posts I’ve written to find out more:

If you can’t be bothered to read those, it’s pretty simple – Follow Friday is about sharing with your followers the people you thnk are worth following. That way people find new and interesting people who are worth following.

10 Irritating Mistakes that people make on Twitter

Over at NikkiPilkington.com, we’re thrilled to be helping people looking to use Twitter for Business with our TweetMentor programme. We’ve been asking our subscribers what their pet Twitter hates are, and here are the ten that came out top:

ONEMOANING
There’s no better way to drive your followers away than spend your entire time on Twitter moaning about this and that irrelevancies. It’s fine to have an opinion, it perhaps makes people engage with you, but if you’re just there to complain about your love life, stop Twittering and go on the Jeremy Kyle show.

7 New Twitter Apps from Killer Startups

I’ve been a fan of Killer Startups for a while – the premise is that they add 15+ startup sites a day and allow users to vote on them. Unfortunately not as many people as could be are voting, and it seems that there are lots of (ahem) Killer Startups missing out on publicity, so if you could take the time to pop over and have a nose around, I’m sure it would be appreciated!

As this is a blog about Twitter, I’m only going to feature recent Twitter related posts on there, but there are others that are well worth a look too!

What should you use for your Twitter name or ‘handle’?

There’s been discussion in various places about whether it’s best to use your own name, your company name, a product name, or something else – what are your thoughts?

Just when you think that there’s nothing else to think of in the Twitterverse, no other use for Twitter and no mad scheme to smile at, along comes an email to let you know that pointless Twitter apps still rule for procrastination and time wasting :)

Twesents allows you to send virtual presents to your Twitter friends, and they kindly sent us an email asking us to give them ago.

So I (Nikki) duly tripped over to the site to give it a go!

It’s #followfriday! A quick reminder, and my list

Once again, #followfriday rolls around, and once again I’m hoping to see *reasons* to follow people, not just a random list that gives me no pointers.

Last week I wrote this post entitled #FollowFriday – it’s not just a list, to explain my thoughts on Follow Friday.

For those that haven’t read it and can’t be bothered, a quick recap:

…today, instead of sending out 140 characters consisting of just usernames, have a think, and tell me WHY I should be following someone….

So, here are some of my #followfriday suggestions for today:

16 reasons why the Twitter @message change isn’t a big deal…

So, Twitter have changed the way you can view @messages and people are in uproar.

Basically, the change means that if someone you follow replies to someone you DON’T follow, then you won’t see that message in your Twitter stream.

Well I say “Yay!”

But people are complaining, arms are raised, and uproar is being tweeted, retweeted and re-retweeted. Hashtags galore are being deployed, and people are complaining that ‘Twitter are taking away our choice’.

Well, I just don’t get the fuss.

Custom Twitter backgrounds from Wishafriend

A bit of a lazy post today if I’m honest – we’re snowed under with new clients (yay!) and have hardly any time to update blogs (boo!) so when this dropped into my inbox it seemed perfect to share with you.

Lots of you hate the sample backgrounds that Twitter give you, but don’t yet want to pay out money to have one created for you – so why not try out Wishafriend Custom Twitter Backgrounds?

Here’s what they said in their email to us:

I'm happy to use Increase Sociability.
