<description>You have slightly touched on one of the areas I think that could benefit by mentioning the hotel restaurant, in the UK (as you know) we have a massive takeaway market, these businesses could benefit hugely by promoting their specials between certain hours if the customer is alerted via Twitter that wearing a certain item of clothing or saying a particular tag line at the counter will earn them a % discount, that way, if you regularly buy an Indian from the same takeaway or pizza or [insert your favourite takeaway] you could willingly follow them and not get bothered by masses of Tweets but still be able to respond when they do Tweet especially if it is a DM or @username

I think another area that could benefit is your local pub. The atmosphere in the average pub is one of friendliness and you know the landlord/staff and they you. Seeing as a great number of ppl Tweet whilst out in the evening promotions could be staged throughout the night to get that loyal following. Let&#039;s extend that, what about supermarkets? Every little helps, why not tap into the loyalty gained through everyday business? Home delivery costs could be removed or last minute promotions Tweeted for those that respond to a DM if they have already agreed to receive such notifications and are indeed following the vendor.

How about cinemas? 2 For 1 tickets on a certain night. Car showrooms, TwitPic to tease and test drives to a loyal following in advance of the everyday customer.

One thing I have noticed since my recent jump into Twitter is that it is all about loyalty. I have long been aware of brand awareness and used it to great effect in the past but now times are a little harder and loyalty is becoming a more effective measure and more needy than ever.

Just my twopenneth

Cheers
