Stop spamming me with Follow Friday!

Date: 29th June 2009

I caught a Facebook post / Twitter status from @grahamjones this morning – it appears that he’s had someone unfollow him on Twitter because they see his #followfriday recommendations as spam.

It’s true to say that if you follow a lot of people, then it’s difficult to see the real content in amongst the constant #followfriday messages on a Friday, and if someone sends numerous FFs, then it could get a little annoying.

But I’m a great believer in Follow Friday – I think it’s important to recommend people for your followers to check out, so what to do?

What made you sign up to Twitter?

I often try out new things just because they are new.

How often do you ‘Tweet’?

It’s never a priority for me, so it depends upon what else is going on. I Downgrade or unfollow people who retweet people I am following anyway, or tweet excessively, so I try to limit what I broadcast. I probably average 3 tweets a day, varying from none to a dozen.

It was a brief email:

File Tweet Brings the much needed File Sharing On Twitter. Sit Back , Specify the file you want to share & the tweet you want to accompany with it. Rest is on Auto-Pilot.

Website Url : www.filetwt.com

Do Give me a review :D

There’s not much more info on the site, but I did try it out, and it did work.

I can’t see any reason why *I* would want to use Twitter to transfer files, but others might, so this one’s for you :)

What made you sign up to Twitter?

I attended a workshop by Anna Farmery of The Engaging Brand at the WiRE Conference last month and it was clear from what she talked about that any business worth it’s salt should have a presence on Twitter if only to increase their awareness of what everybody else is doing in business. Plus of course the opportunity to share useful information and raise awareness of their business.

Foller.me – Find out about any Twitter user

Date: 1st June 2009
Comments: 2 Related Categories: Twitter Apps

foller An email in this morning asking us to have a look at this new service from Foller.me.

We’re always up for finding out about new Twitter apps and uses, so off we go to have a good look around :)

They tell us:

Foller.me is a new third-party Twitter service that renders instant detailed information about a particular Twitter user’s latest 200 posts. It would generally take hours of scouting and pulling together information from hundreds of posts to scrape up some sort of insight into the user’s topic interests on Twitter. Foller.me does this in a flash, providing 3 tag clouds which represent the user’s key topics on Twitter.
