Interact with Twitter by email – Tweetymail

tweetymailA lazy weekend post – I do love it when people email me about their new apps and do all the hard work for me, rather than saying ‘Can you tell everyone about my app’ with no description of justification at all :)

Anil sent us this email about Tweetymail:

I would like to share a Twitter app that I created called tweetymail: http://tweetymail.com

tweetymail is a service that lets you interact with Twitter via email. Although similar services exist, tweetymail is unique because it does not require you to use a “secret” posting email address. Instead, tweetymail simply looks at the “from” address of your email to know who you are, and uses email authentication protocols to prevent email forgery. This approach allows tweetymail to support multiple email addresses and provide simple, but powerful features.

Some feature highlights:

- tweet and get your friends’ tweets by simpling sending an email. You can even request to receive an email with the latest tweets from a specific user rather than the people you follow.

- Forward Twitter’s email notifications to tweetymail to perform actions. For example, you can follow a user that just started following you by forwarding the “So-and-so is now following you” Twitter notification to follow@tweetymail.com. Or if the user is spammy, forward the notification to block@tweetymail.com instead.

- Respond to direct messages via email by forwarding the Twitter “Direct message” notification to message@tweetymail.com and including your response in the forward.

- It’s a dead simple way to tweet links (with automatic URL shortening) from an iPhone without having to leave Safari. See the 2-step guide: http://tweetymail.com/tweet-links-from-iphone-to-twitter

- You do not have to share your Twitter password to use tweetymail. Unlike some of the alternatives, tweetymail uses OAuth.

Please try it out and let me know what you think. I hope that you and your readers find it to be a useful service!

We’re on our way to give it a go – let us know what YOU think!

I would recommend checking out http://mailnuggets.com for a good email-to-twitter solution. It keeps the same look as your twitter page, and the posts are displayed nicely.
