I don’t know about you, but I’ve been really remiss over the past few Fridays. See, I started out last year LOVING Follow Friday, the one day a weekw here you suggested people that your followers should follow. I diligently posted details of people I thought were great, and hoped that others followed them. I got really excited everytime someone suggested me for #FF too, and thanked them loudly.
And then I got fed up with the ‘lists’ – no reasons why I should follow someone, just lists of Twitter handles I couldn’t be bothered checking out. So I made a few posts along the lines of ‘tell us WHY we should follow someone’ and set off on a mission to practice what I preached.
The pregnancy and work, and eventually a baby, and more work, got in the way and I stopped thinking about Follow Friday, stopped posting them out, and in fact hardly bothered to follow any new people at all.
I got lazy. Sorry.
So, as part of the ‘new me’ – new ideas, new websites and services launching, new pricing being introduced and hopefully new habits – I’m on a different mission.
My mission, and I’ve chosen to accept it, is to follow new people every single day. Maybe one, maybe two, maybe more, but new people. They don’t have to be following me, and they don’t have to even Tweet about SEO or Social Media – but every day I’ll follow new people. And I challenge you to do it too – maybe not every day, but why not start today?
Here’s a list of some great poeple to follow – your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to follow at least one new person from the list below. Post in the comments if you’ve done it – let’s see if we can make Follow Friday mean something again!
My #followfriday recommendations:
@chrisbrogan – Fab posts on Social Media. If you’re into Social Media Marketing and you’re not following Chris, then you’re not into Social Media Marketing
@essex_courier @birdsontheblog – Sarah is a courier, but she’s also so much more. She’ll cringe at me calling her a small business blogging ‘expert’ but she’s as close as it gets – she’s learned about Social Media and Internet Marketing from nothing, and she can help you to do it too.
Need WordPress help? Follow @babssaul, @sallywalker, @lucywhittington – they know their stuff and are very helpful.
Like following PR people? @emilycagle does our PR and is fab. Follow @10yetis and @nigel_morgan too – great tweets and advice!
Whether you need VA help or not, our VA @hlsbs is a good follow – and a Twitter addict
Our newest Twitter account is @myfanpage – follow if you have a Facebook Fan Page, as we’ve got big plans for this one!
Some clients on Twitter: @allkareali for building and home advice, @resideint if you’re after decent quality well priced serviced apartments, @themuddles for great young adult fiction, @thedaythat for unique gifts that are a real talking point, @fit_to_print if you need help with words, @glanyrafon for the oldest pub in Wales, @andydickens and @shaungisbourne for telemarketing tips and blogs, and @thecardcoltd for cards and gifts for any occasion.
So I make that 20 people to follow on Twitter. Feel free to make your suggestions in the comments below!

I have accepted the mission!
Am now following @chrisbrogan and @myfanpage

Thank you for the mention and getting this back on track, I have stuck with the #FF in a blog, the good thing about it is, you can write it as you go along and then publish it on Friday ensuring you never miss someone.
I recommend @emilycagle she is a smart cookie and @glanyrafon for tweeting something different
