Business Use?

Twitter started out as a social and personal microblogging tool – early messages were in the “Watching Eastenders and having tea” type vain.

But as it developed, and more people began using it, business people started to see the benefit of this fantastic tool.

Services such as tweetbeep, which allows you to set up alerts for certain keyphrases, and Summize, which lets you search “Tweets”, mean that poeple looking for the services or help that you offer can find you very easily from the postings you put on Twitter. And you can find people looking for help.

Imagine sitting in your office, and posting “Just finished optimising a client’s website for higher Google listings” on Twitter. 2 minutes later you get a direct message saying “We need some help getting Google listings – can you help?” A few emails back and forth, a quick phone call and £3000 of business is done.

Sounds fantastic, doesn’t it? It did to me, Nikki Pilkington, because it happened!

Imagine looking through Summize and seeing a Tweet that says “Why have my Google listings dropped?” and being able to contact that person to give them some help, and then from that connection gaining £2000 of business. Yep, that happened to me too :)

Whatever your industry – franchising, telemarketing, gifts, law, finance, recruitment – the list is endless – you can make use of Twitter for Business.

Can it be time cnosuming? Yes, if you decide to do it yourself.

Can you get it wrong and look like a spammer? Yes, if you’re not careful.

Can it bring in business? most definitely.
