Follow Friday – the NP client edition :)

FollowEveryone knows my thoughts on Follow Friday by now – simple lists of names don't do it for me and I never follow anyone from those lists. Give me a REASON to follow someone and I'll consider it! Which is why I tend to put my FFs in a blog post such as this one!

This week's FFs are all NikkiPilkington.com clients – some are new, some long term, but they're all people we love working with.

Your #followfriday Mission, should you choose to accept it

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been really remiss over the past few Fridays. See, I started out last year LOVING Follow Friday, the one day a weekw here you suggested people that your followers should follow. I diligently posted details of people I thought were great, and hoped that others followed them. I got really excited everytime someone suggested me for #FF too, and thanked them loudly.

And then I got fed up with the ‘lists’ – no reasons why I should follow someone, just lists of Twitter handles I couldn’t be bothered checking out. So I made a few posts along the lines of ‘tell us WHY we should follow someone’ and set off on a mission to practice what I preached.

Why are we adding loads of lists to Business on Twitter?

Bright AtlantaI’ve been asked this quite a lot recently, and as I have nothing to hide, I thought I’d blog about it :)

Recently we’ve added a lot of posts asking for lists of people – copywriters, PR companies, recruiters, Marketing people – and we plan to add a lot more.

And lots of you have emailed me saying “Why are you doing this?” – some of you even think I have some evil master plan :)

Woohoo! It’s #followfriday!

OK, it’s probably not that exciting anymore, unless you’re new to Twitter, but I still find FollowFriday a great way to find new people to follow and find out more about.

Someone asked me the other day; “Has #followfriday run its course? Is it old now? Is it over?” I don’t know the answer to that, but I really hope not, because to me, FF epitomises one of the great things about networking – referrals.

When done properly, and thought through, #FollowFriday is a great way to shout out about and recommend the people you follow who really make a difference, and who you feel shold be brought to the attention of others.

My Follow Friday suggestions for July 3rd 2009

Seems like only a week ago we had the last one…

In the spirit of my last post about Follow Friday – Stop Spamming Me With FollowFriday! – I won’t be posting any Follow Friday tweets, just pointing people to this post.

So, who do I recommend you follow, and why?

  • First up, @Richard__White (that’s 2 underscores, for some reason!). Richard consistently posts great sales tips and hints, as well as helping to promote other Tweeters. His Accidental Salesman blogs are always great to read, and he’s an all round nice chap!

I'm happy to use Increase Sociability.
