Twitter real time search no longer in Google results?

It was a sad day indeed when Google removed the Twitter real time results from their search results – but it did seem a little like overkill that they removed ALL real time results – no news, blogs, or anything else!

Rumour has it that they’re going to be replacing the real time results with results from Google+, which I have to say is a brave move if it’s true, given that Google+ has some way to go to reach critical mass.

Twitter is NOT for sale!

You must have heard the rumours:

“Google is buying Twitter, please retweet”

“No they’re not, Apple is, pls RT”

Well, according to Business Insider, co-founder Biz Stone was on US programme ‘The View’ yesterday and emphatically stated “We are not for sale”.

With the big boys allegedly waiting to pounce, in my mind it can only be a matter of time before they have to monetise Twitter somehow – don’t forget that there are investors waiting for a return on their investment – and I don’t think the Adwords style ads that are showing on profiles at the moment is the final answer.

The Twoogle effect – be careful what you say!

A while ago the rumour was that Twitter pages were ‘noindex, ‘nofollow’ or that robots.txt kept Google out, but it seems that if this was ever the case, it certainly isn’t now.

A recent change in how Twitter writes the title tags on pages is seeing people’s Twitter profiles showing up in the search results when someone searches a name.

A month ago a search on my name brought up my own site, a few networking sites I was a member of, a couple of my blogs and some other profiles.
