Tweetmentor praise – indulge me

Date: 7th July 2009

We launched Tweetmentor earlier this year in order to help small (and large as it happens!) businesses to make the most of Twitter, gain leads from it and ultimately make money.

You can read about how I chose to market Tweetmentor to see that we didn’t do things the ‘expected’ way. :)

It’s always nice to read Tweets from people enjoying Tweetmentor, and to see people recommending it to others, but even nicer are the emails I get at times.

Over at NikkiPilkington.com, we’re thrilled to be helping people looking to use Twitter for Business with our TweetMentor programme. We’ve been asking our subscribers what their pet Twitter hates are, and here are the ten that came out top:

ONEMOANING
There’s no better way to drive your followers away than spend your entire time on Twitter moaning about this and that irrelevancies. It’s fine to have an opinion, it perhaps makes people engage with you, but if you’re just there to complain about your love life, stop Twittering and go on the Jeremy Kyle show.

5 types of business that should be using Twitter

They’re all talking about it – the online phenomenon for 2009. Forget Google, forget Facebook and don’t even mention Yell.com – Twitter is where it’s at this year!

Founded in 2006 as a way to let fellow members know “what you are doing”, Twitter has expanded way beyond its founders wildest dreams.

2009 is the year Twitter has become more “mainstream”. This has been helped by celebrities such as Stephen Fry, Ashton Kutcher and Jonathan Ross espousing its virtues but also by the number of businesses out there realising the marketing and promotional capabilities of Twitter.

UK (super) Brands on Twitter – who’s doing it well?

Teh FAIL SNAIL

OK, the title is a little misleading, because this article on NetImperative defines ‘doing it well’ as ‘having the most followers’ which we all know isn’t necessarily the case, don’t we?

However, it’s still interesting to see which UK superbrands have bothered to give Twitter a go, and by measuring their level of followers, we can guess at how much of a ‘go’ they’ve ‘given’.

Some surprises for me – mainly that there are so few – with Twitter being pretty mainstream now and every Internet Marketing Company becoming a Social Media Marketing Company too, I’m surprised that more of the big boys aren’t embracing Twitter, even if it is just outsourced to an agency.
